Cleaning your skin

Keeping you skin clean should be your first choice once you have decided to get rid of your body acne.  Regular body soap is not the most efficient way to treat your acne, mainly because some soaps leave soap scum on you body thus making your situation worse.  Many of the body acne treatments on the market use the same ingredients, but you may want to watch out for those containing a large quantity of benzoyl peroxide because this can bleach your clothing.

Self-treatment of you body acne may take a while, because you have to find the acne product that best works for you.  Make sure that the acne products you use contain some active ingredients that are known to help get rid of acne.  The most common ingredients do contain benzoyl peroxide, sulphur, salicylic acid and vitamin a. With each of the products you decide to use, check the labels to make sure they contain one or more of these effective ingredients.  The hard part will be tying to figure out which combinations of ingredients works best for you and will help cure your body acne.  There is a word of caution here, there are some acne products that will seem to work for your skin type, however you must continue to use the product otherwise your acne will return and more often worse than it was before. If you do find an acne product that works well for you, you must also try to avoid any more breakouts. To avoid future breakouts take showers to keep the skin clean after workouts or any strenuous activity that makes you sweat and wearing natural fiber clothing to keep the skin away from clothing dyes.  Depending on your skin type you must be weary of over washing your skin as it may dry your skin out making matters worse.

All the acne products in the world may not help in curing your body acne, this is where you may have to see a dermatologist who most likely will prescribe medication to control your sebaceous glands thus controlling the amount of oil produced and avoiding the clogging of your pores.

N.B. the information set forth in this blog is not intended to be a cure all for your body acne but acts as a guide to assist you in making the right decisions.  Please consult your doctor or dermatologist, for sound medical advise.

Treat Body Acne

Body acne treatment is possible and is easier than most people may think.

The skin on your body is basically the first thing people see when they look at you. The skin on your face is most often what radiates your beauty. Body acne is not based on facial acne it is based on acne about the entire body.

This can be embarrassing for most people, leaving scars, white heads or even black heads visible. It also makes wearing that swimsuit or going bear back at the pool or beaches a bit awkward.  That’s the bad news the good news is that it is totally treatable.

To understand how to get rid of your acne you must first understand what causes body acne. Most dermatologists would agree that it can be considered a disease, while others believe its may be a result of poor hygiene.

The basics of body acne are simple, pores and hair follicles on your body get clogged due to excessive oil or sebum produced by sebaceous glands. This results in formation of whiteheads, blackheads, pimples, etc. Body acne usually shows up on your back and upper torso because the density of oil producing sebaceous gland is a lot more in these areas than the rest of you body.

Body acne treatment can be simple, either you can reduce the amount of sebum produced from you skin through dermatologists prescribed medication or, keep your pores and hair follicles clear from oil and dirt through proper cleaning.
